Dominic has over ten years of experience in banking and mortgage broking, having built a strong technical foundation in home lending, refinancing, and complex finance scenarios. Raised in Wollongong and an alumnus of Edmund Rice College, he complemented his university studies with roles at Big 4 banks and established broker franchises, enhancing his expertise in the industry. Known for his ability to put clients at ease, Dom offers clear, practical guidance, creating a personable experience often described as dealing with a trusted friend.
As Principal Director at DN Mortgage Brokering, Dominic remains highly accessible, often available outside normal business hours and while travelling. He values long-term relationships with clients, supporting them well beyond settlement. An active member of the Illawarra community, he engages with local junior rugby league clubs and schools. Outside of work, he enjoys following the Parramatta Eels, indulging in cricket and motorsports, and considers himself a wine connoisseur.

Amy plays an important role in keeping both the business and client experience running smoothly. As Business Development Manager, she supports the ongoing management of the client loan book, administration, client follow-up, retention, social media and networking with local businesses.
Having joined the business earlier this year, Amy brings a warm, organised and people-focused approach to the team. Outside of work, Amy and Dominic are busy raising their four children, with Amy often being the one who keeps everything running behind the scenes. She enjoys spending time in the sun, reading novels and travelling whenever she gets the chance.

What does a broker do?
A broker is a finance expert who collaborates with you individually to explore your borrowing objectives and assess how much you can borrow. Do you charge fees for home or investment loans?
When you secure a loan through a broker, there are no additional repayments or fees incurred. Brokers are compensated through commissions from lenders for bringing in new business, which does not impact your interest rate or other terms in the loan agreement.
Is it more expensive to use a broker?
Utilising a broker is at no cost to you, as the lender compensates them. With access to a vast array of loan products from multiple lenders, brokers will find the most suitable loan for your specific situation. Typically, this includes securing the lowest available rate at that time along with features that best meet your needs.

When deciding which loan type suits you best, it’s important to consider what matters most to you—whether it’s the flexibility of a variable rate or the reliability of fixed repayments.

How do mortgage brokers get paid?
In Australia, mortgage brokers are generally paid by the lender, not directly by the client. When a broker helps arrange a home loan, the lender pays them a commission once the loan settles.
There are typically two types of commissions:
- Upfront commission – A one-off payment made by the lender when your loan settles.
- Trail commission – An ongoing payment the broker may receive while your loan remains active with the lender.
The commission amount can vary between lenders, but brokers are legally required to act in your best interests under Australian law. This means they must recommend loan options that are appropriate for your needs and financial situation, not simply the loan that pays the highest commission.
